Regional Express was formed in August 2002, when the regional airlines Hazelton and Kendell, both facing financial difficulty, merged.
Regional Express, or more commonly Rex, has grown to be Australia's largest independent regional airline. It connects 29 metropolitan and regional centres across South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
Rex has its headquarters in Sydney, with some functions being run from Wagga Wagga. Engineering facilities exist in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne. The customer call centre is located in Orange.
