Getting to central Dublin from Dublin Airport (DUB)

Dublin Airport is about 12 km north of the city centre. There is no rail or tram link to the airport, so all options involve road. Journey times vary with traffic, which can be heavy during morning and evening peaks.

  • Dublin Express runs coaches to multiple city-centre stops including O'Connell Street, Aston Quay and Heuston Station. Route 782 covers the corridor formerly served by the Airlink 747, which has been suspended. The journey takes around 25 to 35 minutes to the city centre.
  • Aircoach (700/700X) is a private coach service that runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Route 700X runs express to Drumcondra and O'Connell Street. Route 700 continues south via Leeson Street for the southside. Frequency is up to every 15 minutes during the day.
  • Dublin Bus routes 16 and 41 serve the airport on regular public bus routes into the city. These are slower than the coach services but cheaper with a Leap card.
  • Taxis are available from the taxi rank on the arrivals level of both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. The metered fare to the city centre takes 20 to 40 minutes depending on traffic.
  • Uber and FreeNow both operate in Dublin and can be booked from arrivals.

There is no rail link to Dublin Airport despite years of planning. If you are connecting onward by train, Heuston Station (for services to Cork, Galway, Limerick) and Connolly Station (for Belfast and the north) are both reachable by bus from the airport.
