On 1 April, 1969, Air Jamaica flew its inaugural flight connecting Kingston and Montego Bay with Miami and New York. At the time Air Canada owned a minority interest in the aviator while the Government of Jamaica owned the major stake in Air Jamaica. Air Jamaica's headquartors is Kingston. Airport hubs for Jamaica's flagship carriers are Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James, Jamaica and Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston. Air Jamaica flys over 350 flights to major destinations throughout the Caribbean, Europe and North America each week.
