China Eastern Airlines

China Eastern Airlines Firm Limited is an airline based in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. It's a major Chinese airline operating world, domestic and regional routes.
Its main base is Shanghai Pudong World airfield, with a centre at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport. On June eleven, 2009, it was declared that China Eastern will combine with Shanghai Airlines. All Shanghai Airline flights will codeshare with corresponding China Eastern flights till the official combine. The airline has received a three-star rating from Skytrax. China Eastern Airlines has a powerful presence on routes in the East, Europe, North America and Australia.
In 2004, the airline ended its unprofitable Shanghai-Brussels-Madrid route. it made a new Shanghai-Melbourne route the same year.
In 2007, China Eastern Airlines started servicing its first African destination, Johannesburg ( thru Mali ) ; China Eastern stopped the route in May 2008. Also in 2007, it commenced operations to the Big Apple from Shanghai, making it the longest nonstop route for the airline. On Nov twenty-two, China Eastern Airlines started a seasonal service on a Shanghai-Brisbane route, flying twice per week. According to Bloomberg, China Eastern Airlines was scheduled to add 2 more flights to its Shanghai-Los Angeles route, to start in June 2008. All of the other major airlines in China are adding 4 or 5 destinations. Alternative sources report that China Eastern will add additional flights to London, Manhattan and Vancouver. the Airline made a decision to postpone its road to London from March five, 2009, to March twenty-nine, 2010 due to the downturn in the world economy.
The company had guaranteed to start flying to Algiers in Aug 2008 but never did so ; it is was then envisioned to start its flights to Algiers in mid-2009.
