Getting to central Seoul from Incheon International Airport (ICN)

Incheon Airport is on Yeongjong Island, about 55 km west of central Seoul. Despite the distance, the rail link makes the trip straightforward. The airport has two terminals about 15 km apart, connected by a free inter-terminal train. Check which terminal your flight uses.

  • AREX Express train is the fastest option, running non-stop from the airport to Seoul Station in 43 minutes. Trains depart every 20 to 40 minutes. All seats are reserved and there is a luggage rack.
  • AREX all-stop train calls at intermediate stations including Hongdae and Gimpo Airport, reaching Seoul Station in about 55 to 60 minutes. Trains run every 5 to 10 minutes. Accepts T-money cards, making transfers to the Seoul Metro seamless.
  • Airport limousine buses run direct to destinations across Seoul including Myeongdong, Gangnam and Dongdaemun. Journey time is 70 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. Useful if your hotel is near a stop on the route.
  • Taxis queue at ranks outside arrivals. The drive to central Seoul takes 60 to 90 minutes, longer during peak hours. International (black) taxis accept credit cards and drivers are more likely to speak English.

Buy a T-money card from a convenience store in the terminal. It works on the AREX all-stop train, the Seoul Metro and most buses.
