Getting to central Dubai from Dubai International Airport (DXB)
Dubai Airport is in the Al Garhoud district, about 15 km from Downtown Dubai (Burj Khalifa area) and 35 km from Dubai Marina and JBR. The Dubai Metro is the easiest way into the city and avoids road traffic entirely.
- Dubai Metro (Red Line) has stations at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The ride to Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall station takes about 28 to 31 minutes, with trains every 2 to 7 minutes depending on the time of day. For Dubai Marina, continue to DMCC station (about 45 to 50 minutes total). Services run from 5 am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 8 am to midnight on Sundays, and 5 am to 1 am on Fridays. You will need a Nol card, available from machines in the station.
- Taxis queue outside arrivals at all terminals, 24 hours a day. The ride to Downtown takes 15 to 30 minutes. Salik road tolls are added to the meter.
- Uber and Careem pick up from designated e-hailing zones in the parking structures. Follow the signs from arrivals.
Terminal 2 (used mainly by Flydubai) has no metro station. A free shuttle bus connects all three terminals roughly every 20 minutes. Allow extra time if you need to transfer. There is no metro service overnight, so taxis and rideshare are your only options for late arrivals.
