Getting to central Hyderabad from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD)

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is about 35 km south of Secunderabad and roughly 30 km from HITEC City. There is no metro connection to the airport yet, so the main options are bus or road.

• Pushpak Airport Liner (TSRTC) is an air-conditioned express bus service running from the airport to multiple city points including Secunderabad, JBS (Jubilee Bus Station) and HITEC City. Buses run through the day and into the night. This is the cheapest way into the city and handles large luggage.
• Aero Express shuttle runs to various city locations on a non-stop basis every 30 minutes or so, making it faster than standard buses on the same routes.
• Taxis: the airport has a pre-paid taxi counter in the arrivals hall where you pay a fixed fare before you leave the building. This avoids negotiation and is recommended for first-timers.
• Ola and Uber both operate at the airport. Book through the app, note that the Outer Ring Road (ORR) toll is charged on top of the app fare.
• MMTS suburban rail does not serve the airport. The nearest MMTS stations are several kilometres from the terminal, so this is not a practical option on arrival.

Peak-hour traffic (8 to 10 am and 5 to 8 pm) on the ORR and NH-44 can add 20 to 30 minutes to road journeys. An airport metro link has been proposed but is not yet under construction.
