Getting to central Vancouver from Vancouver International Airport (YVR)

Vancouver Airport is on Sea Island, about 12 km south-west of downtown. The Canada Line SkyTrain connects directly from inside the terminal, making it one of the easier airport transfers in North America.

  • Canada Line (SkyTrain) runs from the terminal to downtown Vancouver in about 25 minutes. Key stops include Yaletown-Roundhouse, Vancouver City Centre and Waterfront. Trains run every 6 to 10 minutes from about 5 am to 1 am. A YVR AddFare surcharge applies on top of the standard fare for trips starting at the airport. This surcharge does not apply on the return trip.
  • Taxis queue at Level 2 of domestic and international arrivals. The ride to downtown takes about 20 to 35 minutes depending on traffic. No tolls on the main routes.
  • Uber and Lyft both operate at YVR from designated pickup zones.

The Canada Line is almost always the best option for downtown. If you are heading to North Vancouver, take the SeaBus ferry from Waterfront station.
