Getting to central Beijing from Beijing's airports (PEK and PKX)

From Beijing Capital (PEK)

  • Airport Express subway runs from Terminals 2 and 3 to Dongzhimen in about 20 to 25 minutes. At Dongzhimen, transfer to Metro Line 2 for the city centre. Total journey to Wangfujing or Tiananmen is about 45 to 60 minutes.
  • Taxis queue outside arrivals. The ride to central Beijing takes 40 to 60 minutes in normal traffic, but can stretch well beyond 90 minutes during peak hours (7 to 9 am, 5 to 7 pm). A small expressway toll is added to the meter fare.

From Beijing Daxing (PKX)

  • Daxing Airport Express subway runs to Caoqiao on Metro Line 10 in about 22 minutes. From Caoqiao, the city centre is a further 20 to 30 minutes by metro.
  • Intercity rail runs to Beijing West Railway Station in about 29 minutes, useful if you are connecting to high-speed rail services.
